Work in Progress Wednesday 10-12-2016

I started a new job this week, after being unemployed for two months, so I haven’t had nearly as much time to sew as I would like.. I did start a couple projects in my few minutes of downtime however that I thought I would share in a quick WIPW post!

This week has been all about the zippy pouch for me. I have been working on a new beginner friendly tutorial for my beloved french seam zippy pouch. This was one of the first things I ever taught myself to sew years ago, but I never thought to share it until now. They take less than a half hour to whip up and are so customizable. I made the state applique pouch for a friend and I love it! I want to do more exploration with applique soon. Look for the tutorial and free pattern for my french seam zip pouch coming in the upcoming week.

The other big thing I have been working on this week is a new quilt pattern! I am still in the beginning stages of designing it so I don’t have too many specific details to share, but I am excited to see if it will turn out like I have it in my head. This will be my first original quilt pattern and it’s a bit overwhelming honestly. Huge props to the people who whip out quilt design after design, I wish I had that kind of patience and skill!

I am making the quilt to go with my quilt block pillow as part of a DIY bedding set, I even have some plans for some anthropology inspired pillow shams to go with it. Hopefully I will get more time to work on it soon but for now I just have piles of HSTs (half-square triangles) all over my kitchen table.

Hows that for an honest look into my sewing room (AKA my diningroom/livingroom/whole apartment)? Its amazing how much room tiny triangles can take to make….

What are you working on this week? I would love to hear all about it!
